Hi all,
I would be happy if someone could help me to get rid of this problem.

What is  ssh password when you wanna login for the first time to Openwrt Chaos calmer 15.05 on TP-link DIR 825?

I dont have Luci and telnet is refused by default, so the only way is ssh but I dont know the password for that and I can do nothing!!

Not shown: 998 closed ports
PORT   STATE SERVICE
22/tcp open  ssh
53/tcp open  domain

Tnx in advance

Hmm, is it really a new installation with fresh configuration?

If yes - the port scan output seems to be wrong. Have you tried to connect via telnet? Refused by default sounds new to me for a default flash with new configuration. Also you could try to connect with blank password on the web interface, see https://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/playground … ough_login

If it is not a fresh installation or a installation with old config, someone has changed the password already and had deactivated the web interface.

it is also mentioned that "Telnet was removed from trunk by 46809. In a newer trunk build, only ssh is available."

That is a downgrade from DD trunk to an old CC release candidate.
Current CC release is CC 15.05.1,
but Designated Driver trunk is newer...

Likely you old build still needs telnet for the first login (if you upgraded without preserving settings).
The default root password is empty.

But if you have upgraded/downgraded with preserving settings, then the earlier root password is still valid.

Yes it is a fresh upgrade from Openwrt Designated Driver to Openwrt Chaos Calmer 15.05 which has been done via web interface. After restarting, the router could be ping via 192.168.1.1/24 but for ssh it is forced me to put password.

Further more the luci web interface has not installed yet because I could not enter to the router to install GUI.

I've tried too many times to establish telnet but it is refused!

Oh I did not notice that. Tnx for clarifying. but in this situation what I can do? I just updated CC firmware via web and then it is restarted. Im not sure the previous settings is preserved or not. I dont have access to previous setting as well !

You should try both ssh and telnet with
- empty password
- the old root password that you used to enter the Luci GUI in order to flash the new firmware (when you downgraded from DD to CC). The default option is to keep settings in sysupgrade, so the old password might still be valid.

(You might also reboot the device once more, if you have not yet done that.)

If none of those work, then you are heading toward reseting your device.
DIR-825 has many variations, but I guess that the default "generic failsafe" mode should work.

Second observation:
Are you sure that you have flashed the correct version of DIR-825 firmwares? Your link (that you already deleted) showed that you had applied the firmware for "DIR-825 B1" version. Is that correct (and matches the label the bottom of the router)? There are many versions of DIR-825 with totally different hardware, so you need to be careful. (there should be a version check, so likely you have the correct version, but just asking...)

Tnx for ur quick reply. I have reseted the router but it still need password and telnet is refused. Before flashing I saw the version of the hardware which was DIR 824 B1. I will try the solution that u have mentioned and post the result here.
