Topic: squashfs.img vs squashfs-factory.bin - EA4500

Hello,

I'm trying to build an image for the Linksys EA4500 of the firmware version Chaos Calmer 15.05.1.

As mentioned in the EA4500 OpenWrt Wiki I selected the EA4500 profile and as Target Images squashfs.

When the compile process is finished I get a openwrt-kirkwood-ea4500-squashfs.img file instead of a *squashfs-factory.bin (like the trunk) file.

What is the exact difference between both files? Am I still able to flash the openwrt-kirkwood-ea4500-squashfs.img via the Routers stock firmware web interface?

After reconciliation of your configuration.
Just rename as ur router desires
and port it into your router
It should work as worked for me
Gud luck.

I compared the file headers of both files with a hex editor and they are totally different.

The factory.bin starts with "ARM OpenWrt Linux-4.4.14". The img file does not.

The discussion might have continued from here.
