This new version uses mediatek SOC, like archer c50/c2/c20i, and presumably recovery mode overwrites u-boot, like those mediatek models tend to, so we'll see more bricked routers from now on.. Good thing is that it has 64mb ram and 8mb flash, so space won't be that much of a concern anymore.
