Topic: WNDR3700v4 revert to stock

The content of this topic has been archived on 27 Apr 2018. There are no obvious gaps in this topic, but there may still be some posts missing at the end.

I've tried everything that I can find online.

  • I've done a 30-30-30 reset.

  • I've done tftp of different versions of the stock image from Netgear.

  • I've installed openwrt, then done an mtd -r write IMAGE

All to no avail. The only firmware that the router accepts is openwrt (or LEDE)

Please help! I'm very frustrated

The usual Netgear TFTP recovery mode, accessed by holding the reset button down before turning the power on and keeping it held down while the router boots, only uses the bootloader.  It should work no matter what firmware is installed.

I've done that with different versions of the stock firmware. After loading the firmware, the router will blink orange for a few seconds then reboot. Then blink orange then reboot. Over and over.

The only firmware that actually loads on the router is openwrt/LEDE
