wow-new interface! looks nice.
is ther any packets specific repository to point to to have no conflicts when I try adding codepages cp866 win1251 and koi8r

Collected errors:
 * satisfy_dependencies_for: Cannot satisfy the following dependencies for kmod-nls-koi8r:
 *     kernel (= 4.9.70-1-d6c20afe2add5085a86c349b02c22797) *
 * opkg_install_cmd: Cannot install package kmod-nls-koi8r.

Great! Thank you. Looking forward to trying it at night.

Could you please confirm or decline my conclusions about the device:
- it has owful stock firmware and to discover all advantages of the hardware it is a good idea to flash it to lede owrt;
- hdd to usb conversion works perfectly;
- hdd over WiFi works slowly at most speed of 1,5mbytes per second and only in open WiFi mode;
- if any of wep/WPA/wpa2 protection used hdd over air speed falls down to 15-40 kbytes per second;
- hdd connected to local wifi home network over WiFi (which has to be a wpa2 for security reason) is not functional as NAS;
So we still have a perfect sata2usb3 box with ability to act as separate unprotected network NAS (like taking it on a trip as photobank with wifi);
- as owrt based system it is very powerful in the range of available options but HDD WiFi limitations make them hardly useful

I use with WPA2 protected in relay mode

Speed transfert is  some 3 Mo/s ( video file )

Lan Computer <-> Router <-> WNR3500 WIFI Tomato firmware <-> BS-U25CWF

BS-U25CWF <-> ... Computer : The same speed

The speed is the same for My Computer <-> WNR3500

In only HDD mode ( direct USB3 ) speed is fine as normal HDD / SSD enclosure box

hmmm, sounds sweet :-)
Either crooky hands of mine or my device is buggy.
BTW, when I ping this device the delay time is very unstable ( varies from 54 to 2000 ms).
When I read/write over SMB to HDD, it blinks shortly with blue light than blinks red for 20-30 seconds and than again a couple of blue blinks: this looks like it takes a slice of my file and pushes it over wifi with great difficulty. But this definately does not look like HDD itself has problems: the transfer speed is very slow even when I copy  a small file to/from internal on-chip owrt system space.

I have one idea to check: in the picture https://www.hostingpics.net/viewer.php? … ALPORT.jpg the black GND wire is attached to a spot on the plate, but I have a junction occurred between this spot and metal body of USB interface, which is close to it. Previously I decided it should be just the same GND, but currently I am no longer sure that was safe. Will try to weld again

1 - this box requiert sufficient power > 1.5 A

2 - in HDD/USB3 mode use a normal USB3 cable ( speed transfert is some 80 Mo/s with a mechanical HDD )

3 - in wifi mode only a cable connected to a power supply , not to a computer USB2/3 port

(Last edited by F5BJR on 27 Dec 2017, 09:14)

1. =2.4A (real)
2. yes, very close to this  in my case too
3. will try to meet this requirement and test it again

+ will try re-solder black wire attachment point

I am almost giving up :-(Transfer speed is just over 3.1Mb/sec in SMB (HDD to PC over WiFi ), but only if I have Kimax as an access point (192.168.1.1). As soon as I use this manual http://trac.gateworks.com/wiki/OpenWrt/wireless/relayd to relayd (my home network  router Mikrotik is 192.168.10.1 and it gives an ip 192.168.10.133 to Kimax),  SMB disappears until I add [Option Interface 192.168.10.133] parameter to smb configuration file. Than smb appears in my home network, but transfer rate  is 32-54kbytes/sec or less(!)

It looks like there is an error in the above manual or something is getting wrong with smb when I switch Kimax from access point mode to relay one.

I use the box in relayd mode and no problem

For me ithe boxes are not more than 5 meters apart

For samba i use : option interface 'br-lan,eth0,wlan0'

I have always miniDLNA conflicts but i use for test at this time 6 relayd box's  in same time !!!

2 * KIMAX U25CWF
2 * KIMAX U25AWF-H1 ( box with lan + battery )
2 * NEXX WT3020F

where do  you know these 3 names from?
they are not mentioned directly in your config files
or how do I know these 3 for my case?

Sorry , i have only copied the configuration for a box and run that is the essential !!!

I have a configuration running fine
I import for another box
I change the name , IP , and mac address
uci commit xxxx
reboot

the other box run ...

vadim245 just another little info :

the option channel number is not important in relay mode
the channel is automatic and is given by the master ap

it is only important to know if the channel is not too disturbed and change it in the master ap for an available channel

for this to work well, the channel number in the Wireless config file must be the same as that of the AP master
otherwise there will be two channels used that in AP mode of the WT3020 and that of the master AP used in relay mode

config device 'lan_dev'
        option name 'eth0'
        option macaddr '20:0a:8e:21:ac:ac'

i have removed , reboot and no problem after

ganzo8247, to make things clear:
- does HDD work over USB attached to a PC? what FS it is formatted to (Fat32/NTFS/.....)?
- can you launch OWrt (press the rear buton) and does wifi start?
- can you connect to the Box over wifi?
- can you connect to OWrt LUCI web interface  in a browser?
- can you mount HDD in LUCI web interface  ?
- can you start SMB and tune an HDD share?

My HDD does work when flashed to F5BJR's firmware!

My HDD does work when flashed to F5BJR's firmware!

- HDD works over Usb attachd to pc. I tried fs fat32, ext4, ntfs,exFat
- Owrt works great except sata hdd recognise
-i connect box over wifi
- luci webui works great
- my hdd doesnt show up luci's mount
- cant start smb, hdd share. I cant mount hdd sad

HDD sounds spining. df -h, ls /dev/, blkid, fdisk -l cant show my hdd.

I personally would prefer:

1. in terminal "rm /etc/config/fstab"   and then "block detect >> /etc/config/fstab"
2. in terminal: "firstboot"   and then  "reboot"
3. Reflash and reboot

Once there was 1 strange issue: HDD was not unplugged  from PC when pressing  a Wifi Start rear button and thus it could not be detected/ If this is your case - attach the box to any charger, not a PC USB

hi
I also had a box of Kimax U25CWF ... native firmware absolutely curve. came across this thread of discussion ...
now installed the latest firmware from this forum. 4.9.77
I'm not very versed in Linux, I can not recompile independently. when trying to update the packets it's always clear, because it's already 4.9.87.

at the moment I have the main problem in that I would like to use the button to switch from the client's wifi to the access point with LED indication.
I do not understand what's the matter. neither hotplug nor rk.button do not work when you press reset .. put everywhere a logger in scripts , but nothing is spelled on the log.
and when you press the Wifi button, you get the first click - stupor. second click - reboot the device ...

Help please, eh?
I do not know what to do ...

Are you sure it is possible to re-assign the button function this way? The only idea that I have is to make 2 wifi configurations and 2 backups: when necessary - just to activate the one you need. Of course a bit tricky because if current configuration is a LAN client, for instance  at 192.168.10.1 router and you are in some other distant place, you can not access web interface to restore to the proper configuration (to make the Box a 192.168.1.1 access point).

I was even talking on another bug some msgs above: on factory firmware the button disconnects the Box HDD from USB data mode and starts wifi access point. But in OWRT sometimes it starts wifi without disconnecting from PC and thus the HDD becomes not mountable for wifi sharing.

the idea should work, the demon is hanging. but i can not get what  want

Why do I need it?
I want to be able to manually switch the type of use, in one case - the access point to configure, for example. through SSH or telnet.
in the second case - as a client of its network.

help me smile
