So, somehow there is no support for 5ghz wifi card on the Archer C7 V1 Since the driver isnt OPEN Source.
Well? TP-Links firmware are freakin opensource, and the drivers are inside?
Im hoping really for support for the 5ghz wifi card, Thanks

I recommend you look at LEDE instead.

The two projects will probably merge at some point, but currently, LEDE is receiving much more care and attention.

Same for LEDE: 5GHz not supported.

The V1 has the very first generation Atheros 802.11ac chip, which Linux developers chose not to support because it is buggy.
All the wireless drivers in OpenWrt or LEDE are from the mainstream kernel project.

It is interesting TP-Link release the source...but I don't think openwrt/LEDE is responsible for that.

You can check https://wireless.wiki.kernel.org/en/use … rs/ath10k. If ath10k has plan to support 9880 v1 then your router will be saved.

ath10k has no plan of adding it, my router wouldnt be saved, anyone has a good replacement network card, which can connect to 3 antennas

That's sad. Either you flash back to stock firmware or, sell it on ebay or craiglist. It is not a piece of good hw.

The discussion might have continued from here.
