Hello,

i used the forum search but couldnt find any answer. I'm trying to change my root password and can't figure out what is the easiest way to do it.
I didn't lost my root password, i just want to change it to a better, more secure, one.

My system:
OpenWrt Chaos Calmer 15.05.1 / LuCI 15.05-149-g0d8bbd2 Release (git-15.363.78009-956be55)
NETGEAR WNDR3800

I tried to change the root password through the LuCi interface under System --> Administration, but it doesnt seem like it has any effect.

How can i change my root password?

ssh to your router (if on windows, use putty)

root@wr1043ndv2:~# passwd
Changing password for root
New password:
Bad password: too short
Retype password:
Password for root changed by root

Thanks, that was easy!
