Hello,

I have a WAG354 adsl/router and I want to install a kamikaze firmware on it to be able to support the WDS.

Do you know if any built is stable or is working on this kind of linksys router?

My WAG354G is Annex A and V1 I think.

Thanks
Inakif

did you test ar7 port on your wag354g ?
i know that some people meet problems in october 2005 :
https://dev.openwrt.org/ticket/38

Maybe problems have disapeared since 2005.

Share your experience please !

I have the same router, and I am also interested on openwrt. Actually I am developing a fw for the wag354g starting from the official sources.
If you wanna some info about wag354, ask me! . Also I think jtag is possible using the sw ciclamab, so unbricking could be possible.

good luck.

hi cyberstorm

I am not developper but more a geek
i had read some articles very interesting like this one
http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/HowTo/U … eOnWAG354G
but i don t have the montavista preview kit (if you have it... i am ready )

if you have some time perhaps could you show with pictures of
what you do like connecting jtag to your wag354g ( usefull to debrick it)
Ive some pictures of it
i am even ready to test it or make a blog about it
(perhaps people will show more interest for this router)

sorry for my bad english It will be so cool to enhance this router ( wds , manage mode, chilispot etc ...)

thx Oliv

ps: Who are people who take care of ar7 port ? is it still in progress or given up ?

thanks kurtlemalin for that VERY useful link! I will try to integrate optware in the firmware...

By the way you do not need montavista preview kit to build the wag354g, take a look at my website and check the howto guide : http://cyberstorm.altervista.org/labels/wag354g.html

About jtag, sorry to have mislead you, I have not built nor tested it yet.
I have just the photos taken from Hughe site: http://www.hughe.co.uk/pub/pics/tech/openwrt/ that show where the connector should be soldered.
I think that,  as the wag354g has got a mips32 processor, it uses the standard ejtag pinout. But before doing some experiments, I need to buy a thin soldering iron smile
If you have some soldering/electronic skills, are you able to do some tests?

if you wanna do some testing on firmware,  send me an email using the address on my site...

thank you

marco

I have tried Kamikaze on the wag354gV1. OpenWRT boots but ADSL does not seem to sync.
Also, doing ifconfig there is no ppp0 interface.
Any help?

I've got a WAG354G V1 too, but unfortunately I don't have (and at the moment can't afford) another wireless router that I could use if I 'broke' the WAG!

I'm very interested in how people get on though... Not so long back I let temptation get the better of me briefly and have downloaded another firmware for the router but would get into far too much trouble from the boyf if I start meddling and break it!!

Yes! I'm writing you from a wag354g running openwrt.
Sorry for writing about the non-existing problem about adsl syncing, that was because I did not read the manual.

I have find out out to enable ADSL in the wiki:
http://wiki.openwrt.org/OpenWrtDocs/Har … k/DSL-502T

section 1.3 "Enabling ADSL"
thanks to the guyz who wrote this great guide!

I've bricked my router sometimes, but luckily I have also seen that our router is hard to break. You can always recover it using tftp flashing at boot.
If you are curious check out the guide on my site.

cheers

Hi! I want to ask you were can I find your site? I want to see your guide.  I'm new here and I don't know everything that goes around here. Do you have it in your profile? Thanks.

Thanks!

Does WDS work though, for anybody actually using the AR7 port on a device like this?

I am using the AR7 port on a different router (D-Link DSL-G604t) and I abandoned hope of getting the wireless to work. From the table of hardware, it looks like your router may have the same problem of needing the acx1xx driver to work...

When I last tested it, WPA/WPA2 was a total loss and regular WEP was too unstable to bother with.  I ended up getting a plain old Linksys router to act as an access point on my LAN while using the AR7 for my ADSL gateway.

the drivers are still acx111, so the problems are still there, and WPA/WDS is not supported....
I found somewhere the sources of wireless drivers developed by Texas Instrument, that work well on standard AR7 firmwares and support WPA, I wonder if they can be ported to openwrt 2.6 kernel..
