Hi Arokh,
Is it possible to create some space for adding net-tools? I need a static arp entry and I don´t know how to do that without using net tools. Normally I use the following command: arp -S ip macaddress.
Maybe there is an other solution?

You might want to try 25056, after every new release I tend to go back to that build since the wifi drivers are the best in that release (in my opnion) for both 2.4 and 5GHZ since I can get about 9.8MB/s / 8MB/s 2.4GHZ/5GHZ
Could someone pls make a link to r25056 available? r25056 seems not to be publically available any more...
Thanks!

Hi there,
Bought my WNDR3700 yesterday, and now I want to try out OpenWRT
My TA says 02R1, so which version do I have? And what image should i use?
openwrt-wndr3700-20110129-r25222-squashfs-factory.img or
openwrt-wndr3700v2-20110129-r25222-squashfs-factory.imgAnd is installation done by just uploading to stock firmware web gui?
A lot of questions...
Thanks
Anyone?

you can install net tools arp from luci web interface, just do a package refresh and look for it. It's only about 25KB.

Check your router status page. Does it say it's a V2? No? Then you don't have a V2. (also v2 has firmware 1.0.0.x, v1 has firmware 1.0.4.x or 1.0.6.x)
How to install: read the wiki. Basically, I would advise the tftp-method, cause thats also what you need to flash back to stock-firmware.

There probably is no room for it. You'll have to use extroot or install to usb. Im still looking into it myself. And no, there's no noob-friendly step-by-step guide yet, as far as I know.

Hi everyone,
first of all: Thank you arokh for your great work!
Using your release r25222. Working without any issues.
But for me I'm missing some things. Nothing serious! It would be nice if you fix/implement some things.
- WLAN ON/OFF button has no function. It's usefull to switch off WLAN if it isn't in use.
- WAN LED is always orange. No Information given if the unit is online or not.
- LAN port priority. It's usefull for Skype/VoIP. No QoS! Just simple high or low priority!
- I'd like to have a port forwarding mask due to incompetence from my side.
- Maybe nmbd support ? for better usage of shares on Windows machines.
I know it's possible to forward ports via firewall rules. But I have no knowledge about firewalls. I just want avoid mistakes only!
For the other points I think there is already a solution!? Maybe I'm to unknowing to get the LED configuration right.
Greetz,
pwned
Thank you for your fast reply Erikk1. I tried that but I get the following error: Install 'net-tools': Error (OPKG error code 255)
Error in console:
verify_pkg_installable: Only have 192kb available on filesystem /overlay, pkg net-tools needs 222
* opkg_install_cmd: Cannot install package net-tools.
So, not enough space.

Dont install the entire net tools, just install net tools arp. Only requires 25KB instead of 2222.

Not sure why your USB disk is failing to mount, kmod-nls-cp437 is installed and loaded by default. Check with lsmod.
I can see that the cp437 was loaded. Unfortunately I can't recreate this problem since I reformated the USB stick to ext4, and now it mounts correctly.
I have another problem with vfat disk (that mounts correctly with original Netgear firmware). The error log: http://pastebin.com/zhsSdJmW
I could add qos-scripts but it depends on some packages that will add size to the build, and it's pretty tight already. QoS is not plug and play so experienced users will know how to install it. What exactly is segfaulting for you? What's the package versions for each qos-scripts dependants you have installed?
I dumped my segfault errorlog to: http://pastebin.com/FbBCQ8Dn
I agree that the qos-scripts adds considerable size to the build but the QOS is the only "standard" thing missing from this otherwise very complete build. Is there any other "smaller" QOS package we could use? (I had very good experience with rudy's qos scripts in White Russian, and could modify it to work with the uci)
First I want to give a BIG Thank You to arokh for providing this fw
I'm pretty much a noob at openwrt but would love QoS, configurable from luci would be a bonus!!! If anyone has successfully installed it in the newer builds and it isn't to much to explain to a noob, who is familiar with linux and command line, it would very much appreciated. I have looked at the Qos MiniHowto and spent some time trying to install it without luck. After googling it sounds like I need to install qos-scripts and luci-app-qos. Let me tell you what I tried
opkg update
opkg install qos-scripts
which returns
Installing qos-scripts (1.2.1-4) to root...
Downloading http://downloads.openwrt.org/snapshots/ … -4_all.ipk.
Installing tc (2.6.35-3) to root...
Collected errors:
* verify_pkg_installable: Only have 16kb available on filesystem /overlay, pkg tc needs 92
* opkg_install_cmd: Cannot install package qos-scripts.
I'm not really sure where to go from here and I'm afraid that I may have hosed things and need to reinstall the firmware because there is so little filesystem space available.
We have to remember that Arokh's build is already very complete and that there's very little room left on the flash to install additional packages. That is why we keep getting errors when trying to install stuff. The solutions for that are apparently to extroot (make the router run entirely from software on a usb-device) or to install only certain packages on usb. However, I have not yet tried it. There's guides about it on the internet though.
Thanks erikk1. I see now that this was described earlier in the thread. If I do get it to work I will post with instructions but am now thinking that it might just be too complicated for me.
Either extroot, or just build your own, or use the default images and add stuff to those.

Doesnt work for me with extroot.
I think some of us are missing the point. When the author of this firmware started this build he wrote "I built it how it was useful for me". Now we have people coming here asking him to add this & add that to an already perfect build. Guess what, if you keep trying to make him add stuff, that something is gonna break. If you want some feature I highly suggest you build your own and leave this work of art alone. Are you really that lazy that you can't log into the router and turn off the radios? Do you really have to have the author right a script and add it to the build making it bigger & bigger & bigger. QOS will make it bigger but if you have this beast of a router you really don't need qos, this beast has one of the best CPUs for cosumer grade routers, if you find you net struggling maybe you need to get a higher level of service from your ISP.
Sorry for the rant but it's perfect right now and all the extra crap will break it causing me or others to go back to stock or older "original" builds.
DD-WRT has all that crap and look how it runs, "Like Shit"!!
I no longer ask for stuff, It was very clear to me back at page 1-4 that this firmware was built meeting the needs of Arokh, I have seen however that he has found some of the stuff that people request useful for himself in one way or another or has just added stuff that he would never use just so some of us are also pleased (extroot is a good example of this).
However I agree with your point and suggest people to start reading from post 1 to see what this threat is about.
My message above with the QoS errors are just for him in case he can read it and know right away what the error is. He is the "maker" of the build so he knows what the build can and cannot do.
Its also in case that someone else has tried and succeeded to instal QoS scripts on Arokh's build
PS: I think Arokh can also see it as a compliment that so many people are using 'his' build and hoping/asking for improvements We just need someone to write a FAQ and some noob friendly guides, so that the thread isn't flooded with simple questions. I have been wanting to do it, but I keep getting distracted
I do appreciate input on what the build should include and not, but I don't have too much time to spend on it so the features I find most useful will have the top priority. I think I'd rather put IPv6 in before QoS for instance.
So by all means, ask and it can be discussed. And please do give any credit to the OpenWrt devs as they are doing the real work :)
@abolition
I doubt that error has anything to do with you being on extroot. Looks like opkg is expecting those files to be present, but they are neither in the build or required by the QoS package. Did you install them and then remove the files yourself somehow?

Erikk1 very good idea, i like to try out openwrt so i can use a guide en simple Q&A because i'm a noob at this kind of things
Tried DD-wrt for a week and liked it, but needed the readyshare thing (to complicated for me in dd-wrt) so if that isn't so hard in openwrt (arokh build) i love to trie it.

I have not, thats what i get after flashing the router using tftp and trying to install qos-scripts.
I noticed it's upgrading, so you already installed it then?
I tried multiple times to install it, so it could be from last week to this one it got updated?
