Topic: The TP-Link's New WR703-MR10U

The content of this topic has been archived between 6 Feb 2018 and 5 May 2018. Unfortunately there are posts – most likely complete pages – missing.

So the new question is right here:
Now, how to make it work with my 3G modem (Huawei E303) better - in usb tethering, worst case - modem mode.. I tried to use some instructions from different sites, but install of some packeges fails - something with kernel version bla-bla-bla...

Congratulations @sargol! You were able to flash Attitude Adjustment firmware on your MR10U and it works! Thank you for testing!

Install of some packages (probable all packages for kernel modules "kmod-*") failed due to following reason - you run custom firmware and you try to use official package repository. They are different and not compatible for kernel modules. You need to use custom package repository (e.g. download files following the third link I have provided) and use them. Probably you will find that some packages are not present in my folder, try to build a list of required packages and I will try to compile them too for Attitude Adjustment.

Aha! That's the point! Now I get it..
I tried to install:

opkg install kmod-usb-net kmod-usb-net-rndis kmod-usb-net-cdc-ether usbutils udev

Result
Collected errors:

Proably I need them.. smile

And maybe You will tell me - what's the easy way to install this packeges from your "mega.co.nz" to my router? I have no idea how to do it..

You need to download all files to your computer - follow the link, right click on "bin", select "Download".

Later you can run http server on your computer and then you can point opkg repository to your computer.

Or you can transfer packages to your MR10U in /tmp directory and install from there.

Thanks to all , today i have solved my problem Whit help on this page:

http://wiki.xinchejian.com/wiki/Install … ink_WR703N

i have need to create a wan configuration and activate wifi, all of the rest comand opkg update works fine and now i have luci interface instaled.

I hope this topic helps someone in the future, thanks again to all and sorry for bad english.

Cheers

I uploaded it to free ftp server, and everything worked, exept "No space left"
So it seems, to make everything work as I want, I need that magic chip of 16 Mb flash memory from slboat..
I don't see any other way sad

Hello.

I also bought this router.
I would like to install openwrt with web interface (luci) because I don't understand chinese.
I already installed openwrt trunk for this model but luci doesn't install because of not enough space.
Isn't there any custom (and simple to install) openwrt version already with luci? Linux is not my "best"...

Thank you.

Hello,

First of all I must confess that I really am a noob on this subject and because of that I think I've just bricked my MR10U and can't figure out how to make it work again, so I would really appreciate some help!

I received my device and after reading some instructions I was able to flash openwrt on it, but when trying to install luci I got the same error of not enough space and as I'm far from understanding how all of this works and I couldn't find an easy solution for this I decided to install the original firmware and think about what to do latter. The problem is that I think I made a stupid mistake, since I also had on my computer a firmware from another device (DD-WRT for TP-Link TL-WR703N) and I may have installed it instead of the original MR10U firmware... now I feel stupid and I really don't know what else can I do, because I can't connect to the device by any means, so I don't know how the replace the firmware!

So, now every time I turn the device on I get the green light to flash one time, the it stays on for just a second and then it goes off. I've tried to debrick it (http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-mr10u#debricking) but I'm not even able to get it on failsafe mode. When I connect the device to my computer with a lan cable the network is not recognized and can't anything else.

Does anyone know how to help me! I know I'm just to noob to start messing with this, but I'm also quite curious and I would really appreciate if someone could help me with this!

If only one blink, that may mean bad thing happen, only have uboot load,so now you can use ttl cone t to computer to fix it,or you can replace the whole flash chip, which two thing all you need is open the case and do some solder work, replace the flash chipper is quite easy,is only a 8p chipper, after you replace it just back again, and I think that's the way to fix it

I was afraid that someone would say something like that!:( If there isn't really any other solution and since the first option seams to be too much complicated for someone like me, where can I find a flash chipper to replace the one I have?

I just flashed the trunk openwrt firmware indicated in the mr10u openwrt wiki page.
Should I have done anything else?
Can you please help me?

You can get one from my store but it's 16 pre with16mb,but I not sure you need this, seems something not right here, the flash should be 4m not 3m,so there are must be something wrong, cloud you have a try with the openwrt_sysupgrade.bin yet?

How can I try the openwrt_sysupgrade.bin if I can't stablish any connection to the device? I've been reading a lot but still didn't understand if is there anything else I can do to connect to the device!?

what you mean with "lost 1 mbyte"??? it seems to me that it's the usual df output with 4mb flash.
did you forgot to add kernel partition size?

It sounds to me, that you just flashed a wrong firmware image, while your bootloader should still be working fine. So you could just connect to the serial port (with a serial cable, which operates at 3.3V!) and run the few debricking commands in uboot. See the following wiki articles and also follow the links in there:
http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-mr10u#serial
http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-mr10u#debricking
To enter uboot, you probably have to type in "tpl" when it outputs something like "Autobooting in x seconds". Timing is crucial.
