Done.

Hi,
I've been jumping through hoops trying to add a router which is in the outdated ToH but which I can't find in the new and improved one. Apparently this forum is the last hoop to be jumped through to add a device to the list:

could you please add this device - http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/xiaomi/mini
almost fully working with CC15.05 final (except for DFS)
tnx.

@undef2: Now that @tmo26 added the Xiaomi brand, I took the liberty of creating the "Technical Data" page for that router at: http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/hwdata/xiao … mi_mini_v1

You can now continue to fill in that Techdata page with its technical specs. (Be sure to click the Edit button at the bottom/left of that page.)

As you fill in the Techdata page, the information automatically appears in the Table of Hardware. You can see it at: http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/start?dataf … %5D=xiaomi

Thanks for helping to improve the wiki!

I looked at two different products today claiming to run OpenWRT; neither are mentioned in the ToH. They are:

1. Arduino Yun
2. Domino Qi & Pi

Perhaps I don't understand the logic for inclusion in the list, or the list is just not maintained, or it's non-maintainable due to proliferation. In any case, could one of the ToH maintainers post a brief summary of the status somewhere? As it is, I try to use the ToH as a screen for hardware; but as it now appears, it is not really useful for that because hardware manufacturers (as above) claim support for OpenWRT and are not on the list.

@otorskchy002, the ToH is community managed, and you are part of the community.  In this case you are the initiator of sorts.

If you find a missing device, then you should add it to the ToH, create the techdata and device pages with as robust amont of acurate data.  Some of the more important items are the Device Type (Dev board is probably the best for these), availability (current for new product) and links to the new OpenWRT and vendor pages.  All is important, but....

The manufactures do not add their devices in general, though Domino/Gl.inet are relatively unique in that they offer OpenWRT, most vendors do not.  Most of the new GL.inet is not populated.

@tmo26, Can you add Domino (http://domino.io/).  Also not sure if we want to add Arduino.  https://www.arduino.cc/en/Main/Software  I know little, but it appears to run it's own version of OpenWRT.

... and we still have the login issue to add a new dataentry. (white page)

Not sure who, but I think it was richbhanover who created the template for the New Device Page.

This is a recently created one.
http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/gl.inet/gl.inet_ar150
While I agree with the layout concept, can the color of all the boiler point font be changed to red.  When I open the page it looks substantially complete, but it's really not.  It's hard to see the forest through the trees.  I can not easily see what has been filled in, and what needs to be.  Pros and cons, I agree.  But in this case the Getting Started and Keep the articles modular are instructions and should be removed when the page is released, but the user does not understand this.

I didn't create the template for the Device Details page, but I just edited it to make it more obvious what is instructional text, and what is boilerplate.

http://wiki.openwrt.org/meta/template_d … figuration

Rather than set the text color, I simply wrapped the instructional/boilerplate stuff in <WRAP BOX> ... </WRAP> tags. This gives it a lighter background to make it stand out. I also kept FIXME for each of these blocks, so that it's obvious what has not yet been updated

I haven't received any comments - pro or con - to my note of the other day re: the top of the ToH pages. https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php … 05#p294205

@tmo26: Since there seem to be no concerns, would you replace the current ToH top_note with the contents of http://wiki.openwrt.org/playground/toh/top_note3

I have also modified the five listed variations of the ToH so that they should look fine after this update. I will check them all when it's live. Thanks!

So yeah, I tried to do that before I posted my message. Here's what the OpenWRT web page says:

1. it says to contact the ToH maintainers. the link brings you to this forum.

2. the link to the forms to add hardware is password-protected, and my password doesn't work

I took that to mean that posting to this forum is what one is supposed to do - and so that's what I did. If there's another procedure, then maybe someone should update the web page.

Good idea, which I already adopted and used several times in the device template.

@richb: I reverted some of your changes.

1) Since we're in the OpenWrt wiki, we don't need to state that the ToHs we're presenting are the "OpenWrt Tables of Hardware". Have a look ath the "you are here"-bar at the top of the page: Space here is limited, and what doesn't fit, will be truncated. That's not what we want.

-> Keep the naming of the ToH pages short

2) Supported by 15.05: If you want new tables, please create new ones, rather than modifying existing ones.
Sidenote: IMHO there's no need for an extra table, since you can easily filter via the dataclouds above the table.

The Domino is a Product of the GL.iNet Brand  GL.iNet is already on the ToH so you should be able to add Domino IO and Domino Pi as a product.  Domino.io has its own website so i might not have occured that GL.iNet is the actual brand.

I see Arduino is not yet listed as a brand

@tmo26: can you please add Arduino?

1) re: reverting headings. OK. I included "OpenWrt" in the <h1> to improve SEO. But that keyword is in the title, and all over the page, so it isn't necessary in the heading.

2) re: "Supported by 15.05" view. I believe this is important for newcomers who "just want to get started". Although it's true that they can "just filter on 15.05", I still think it's better to have a view that says, "This is the current version. Use it."

re: Updating the top_note. I don't understand the reluctance (the team's reluctance?) to change the top_note to something like the draft at http://wiki.openwrt.org/playground/toh/top_note3

I created that draft with these goals in mind:

- Take a small amount of vertical space, so that a large portion of the table appears at all window sizes
- Be consistent, to provide a familiar format for the first few ToH's people encounter
- Be brief, so we don't overwhelm people with too much text to read
- Address newcomer's initial questions, so they can get where (we think) they want to go
- Include pointers to other resources, to give guidance about where else they can find information

I am happy to treat the proposal above as a draft, but I would like to know if the team feels it's important to create something that meets those goals above. Thanks.

When I first looked at OpenWRT some time ago, my interest was in upgrading firmware in my old wifi hardware: D-Link DWL-7200AP, D-Link DWL-810+, and a Linksys/Cisco WET610N. I checked the ToH, and went away thinking that there was no support. In fact, the ToH still reflects that.

Now this discussion has made me realize that it's possible that these devices may be supported after all. Any suggestions re how I could determine if they are supported? Or is this just a waste of time die to the age/technology in these boxen?

https://dev.openwrt.org/search doesn't shown any signs of life for the 3 mentioned models.

I can't say I'm surprised. Do you think there would be any interest at all in this hardware? If so, I can open it up, or perhaps even donate it.

I added the following Domino devices to the ToH.

Core
Domino Pi
Domino Qi
GL-M9331 Plus

And also the Moto-Mini

And a forum topic for the Domino Pi

Feel free to add additional data

http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/start?dataflt[Brand*~]=gl

I'm trying to upload images to the media manager but i don't seem to have sufficient rights to upload.
Has something changed or am i doing something wrong?

Also could someone please add a folder for GL.iNet in the media manager or point me to it if one already exists. Don't see it there though i expect one to be there already

thanks.

Check to see if you can add it under root=>Media=>toh=>gl.inet
as opposed to root=>toh

Might as well add the ar300 to get them all.
http://www.gl-inet.com/ar300/

FYI

I'm currently cleaning up the media directory, moving pictures from :toh:brand -> :media:brand or if already existent, to :media:toh:brand.

As you can see, we have a split in

:media:brand
:media:toh:brand

I don't like that, but havn't decided yet, which way to go.
To keep the link hierarchy flat, I would tend to :media:brand.

Thanks,

There is no GLiNet folder and i don't have the rights to make one, so i'll add the images to the rest.

AR-300 and MiFi is probably for another day. I will try to squeese them in before my mind goes into 'surreal mode'

My vote is :media:brand

I recall having a permission issue, but not sure if it was there or at root:toh
