That's not about version.

If you type in your router "busybox" you will see a line like this:

"Currently defined functions:"

This means it's possible to compile busybox with much more defined functions.

Hi, can someone recommend me a large (~200-500 GB) external HDD that is known to work with WL600g?
I have a 250GB Toshiba but that does not work under Linux.

i think every externally powered usb hdd (mass storage device) should work well. What does mean does not work under Linux (under which one ? ?
If you want to pick 2.5" external hdd and want power suplied from wl600gp, i'm not sure if port can really supply 500mA (5V*500mA= 2.5W) as needed by USB spec.

Its a Toshiba PX1220E-1G25, and it is not recognized under Ubuntu 8.04.
It works fine under Windows XP.

Symptoms:

* The following message is visible in dmesg:
usb 5-8: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 4
This message is repeated from time to time using different address number.

* The disk does not show up under the lsusb and fdisk -l commands.

The hdd does not have a built-in password application, so this should not be a
problem.

I tried Toshiba support, their support forum, and ubuntuforums.org, but haven't received any answer.
I think that the hdd enclosure is actually a Dura Micro Model 501-B101 (or maybe B112), so I wrote a mail to their support address, but nothing.

I found a forum post about someone who had a similar problem and replacing the power supply was the solution, so I checked the power supply, but on the drawing attached to the enclosure the +12V pin is on the left, while on the drawing of the power supply I have for the hdd it is on the right, which looks weird to me.
I was thinking about trying the hard drive with a different power supply I have (and its layout matches the drawing on the enclosure) but was afraid of damaging the hdd, since the +5V and +12V pins on the two power units are reversed (I measured it with a voltmeter).

I asked the Toshiba and Dura Micro support for a pin-layout of the enclosure, but they haven't answered.

I am out of ideas.

Does any body know if it is possible to use the WL600g without the modem? I.e. use one of the LAN port as a WAN input port, or connect a new RJ45 to the board after the modem, if possible.

Regards, Japegu

I'm interested on the same. I was looking for the sources of software with the great work of "fullbanner" in http://enhancedwl-600g.cvs.sourceforge.net/ but there is only some web scripts.

I think it's not difficult to use one of the Lan port as WAN port and deactivate the modem.

Hi everyone. Sorry for my English. I`m Belorussian.

I have a problem. Here is my steps, help me to find mistake(s):

1. download and unarchived http://www.rn-design.net/WL-600gA-080808_1809.zip

2. put wl-600gA-080803_1809 firmware to my wl-600g

3. format to FAT 256mb CF card and extract harddisk.tar.gz to CF (I verify correct structure on CF)

4. plug CF into sandisk cf cardreader and connect to 600g

5. power on 600g

6. wait about 1 minute for loading

7. go to http://10.0.0.10 (my router ip)

8. everything seems to be fine, but when I go to menu USB Application > Services browser tells that page not found. I try IE, Firefox v2 and v3

p.s. here is my config file http://nh.volna.by/600g.conf

sad please help somebody

Inside your card, change the startup script to start thttpd
Remove the "#" before the line "/var/harddisk/asus/etc/init.d/thttpd start"

This file is located "<yourflash>\asus\" with the name "startup"

Open it with kwrite or notepad in windows

Remove the "#" before the line "/var/harddisk/asus/etc/init.d/thttpd start"

This file is located "<yourflash>\asus\" with the name "startup"

Open it with kwrite or notepad in windows

nothing change. because in original/default file "startup" line ...httpd start without # sad

content of my startup file:

Please check that your card is compatible.

After connecting the card, login to your router with "telnet"

and check that there is folders under "/var/harddisk/"
You should see the folders in your card.

To access your router with "telnet" you need to change your router
saved configuration file telnet="disable" to telnet="enable".

Try also enabling the ftp in your router web page and see if you
can access the ftp.

If you can't see any folders in "/var/harddisk/" or if you can't access the ftp
probally your card isn't compatible.

thanks fullbanner for help smile this is all not matter smile I simply download WL-600gA-080808_1809.zip again and reflash my router and all works

I think you should post md5 checksum of files for future users like me %)

hi, after flashing original firmware 1.0.3.3, my mac adress is changed to 02:10:18:01:00:01. Also the router isn't stable. Anyway to fix this?

1. can you make change for wl-600g that it can make IP Forwarding on LAN port.

in original firmware wl-600g (like am604g, am604 and also d-link dsl-25xx) NOT forward IP packets outside LAN.

this can changed by following command:
iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o <ppp_0_33_1-name of WAN interface> -s <192.168.2.0/255.255.255.0-LAN when must forwarding> -j MASQUERADE

this command I must enter AFTER EACH reset or insert on start-up script.

can you patch or change this?

2. can you add to web interface this page hmm/<router_address>/adslcfg.html

My router isn't stable either.
I've gave up of ctorrent. I just wished Samba worked proprely but its too slow to acess and unstable I have to keep restarting the router and manual starting the samba service.

Anyone knows a fix for this ? Disabling some services ? Adding Samba to startup list?

Hi, Fullbanner. I have a rookie question for WL-600g, where/how can I assign static IP for certain MAC address? I cant find the option to do so

Sorry, posts 226 to 225 are missing from our archive.
