it has not yet been applied to trunk.
woohoo, finally!
http://downloads.openwrt.org/snapshots/ … pgrade.bin is now available
flashed mine device, it lacks wireless interface for some reason, no config file /etc/config/wireless after "firstboot"
hope to figure out this
thanks guys

okay, as per another thread (https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?id=43827) there was a problem with trunk on 28th of April, the one from 29th works just fine
super!
Where is the download link to trunk 29th ?
Thx

You can get the latest from here: http://downloads.openwrt.org/snapshots/trunk/ar71xx/. I didn't test it though. Good luck!

just in case somebody is interested, here is a short how-to to deploy asterisk over this router
prerequisites:
1. prepare usb-stick with 2 primary partitions for swap (64MB) and for overlay (rest) ext3
2. install latest squashfs firmware
configuring router with external swap and overlay
1. connect router to internet via wan or wifi
2. opkg update
3. opkg install kmod-usb-storage block-mount kmod-fs-ext4
4. reboot
5. mount /dev/sda2 /mnt/sda2
6. tar -C /overlay -cvf - . | tar -C /mnt/sda2 -xf -
7. /etc/init.d/fstab enable
8. update /etc/config/fstab to mount swap partition /dev/sda1
9. update /etc/config/fstab to mount /overlay to /dev/sda2
10. reboot
installing asterisk18:
1. opkg update
2. opkg install asterisk18
3. /etc/init.d/asterisk enable

BTW: for some reason I was unable to overwrite MAC address using 'option macaddr' over the 'wan' interface, it simply uses hardcoded one
Note to self: To enter the OpenWrt failsafe mode, plug the network cable in the LAN/WAN jack, NOT the LAN one.
The rest is standard: Power the router, wait for the blue LED to light up, then press the Reset button once. The LED then blinks very fast and you can setup your PC with static IP address 192.168.1.2 and telnet to 192.168.1.1. No DHCP server is running in failsafe mode.
I just picked up a TL-WR720N v3, and tried flashing openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr720n-v3-squashfs-factory.bin (13-Jul-2013 07:56) by the stock web interface, but it didn't seem to work.
The router doesn't start up, but I'm able to enter failsafe with elecnix's instructions.
Can anyone advise what I should do next to get it up and running?

I just picked up a TL-WR720N v3, and tried flashing openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr720n-v3-squashfs-factory.bin (13-Jul-2013 07:56) by the stock web interface, but it didn't seem to work.
The router doesn't start up, but I'm able to enter failsafe with elecnix's instructions.
You hit probably the problem that is discussed here: https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?id=45263
I ran into the same problem and solved it by uploading the firmware compiled by Madox from this page.
The problem is poignant for the TL-WR720N because it can only take firmware images from trunk, and I don't think the trunk images are archived anywhere

Thanks! I was able to recover the unit with the Madox firmware (openwrt_TLWR720_base_2013-05-01_squash-sysupgrade) via netcat indirect method.
For those who are interested, I used Ncat portable (for windows), with:
type [specified firmware].bin | ncat.exe -l 3333
and had a second telnet window open to check the file transfer was completed (via filesize). Next, I checked the md5sum matched before writing it to flash with sysupgrade.

Where have you all been purchasing the Chinese v3 variant from? All I can seem to find is the larger (and less useful) v1.0 variant that is here in the US. Thanks in advance!
aliexpress.com
Since couple of days, we have in Europe new model: TP-Link TL-WR710N(EU) v1, which is very similar to the WR730Nv3. It doesn't have switch and USB power input, but has 8 MB of FLASH and 1 A max. current load on USB host port
Here are some pictures: http://galeria.tech-blog.pl/TP-Link_TL-WR710N-EU/
Thanks for the link, wouldn't you know I live in Washington and they have some sort of legal barrier just in that state that doesn't allow them to provide their escrow service.
Really too bad that TP-Link totally changed the design of that router for release in the US, the smaller form factor + USB port make the chinese version much more attractive.
seems to be already supported in trunk:

Yes, patch was made by obsy (Cezary Jackiewicz) from http://www.eko.one.pl/:
http://patchwork.openwrt.org/patch/3873/
Got myself this router from Aliexpress.
The version of router is 3.1
Software version 3.14.4 Build 130318 Rel.64251n
Runs well with the latest openwrt trunk image.

For those who are interested...CUT...
have you tried to simply wget the firmware from failsafe mode?
I installed the latest trunk on the router and works ok. I tried to install a couple of packages on it and some of them failed due to the lack of memory.
Is there any way to increase the memory? If i read the specs right it should have 4 MB memory. Any help appreciated as im quite new to this topic.
