The 3.10 build should work smile

..and it works !!!

can you please do a build with the following features added for 4300 3.10 build:

1) ipv6 (current 3.10 build does not seem to support ipv6)
2) get the most of flash of 128Megs for software installation? (current build's luci shows about 12.3 Megs free in system-> software) -- someone did this on AdamK/Diffie's thread..

again thanks... if you have a new 3.14/3.10 build on 4300, i can test them...

Hi arokh,

Thanks a lot for this build.
I tried to install it in my WNDRMacv2 and so far it is working fine. But I install the OpenWRT because I want to use OpenVPN client in my router to connect to the remote OpenVPN server. But I don't know how to get it worked. So far what I have done:
1. Edited the /etc/config/openvpn to disable the default one.
2. Disabled the OpenVPN.
3. Added a new entry in this config file for my VPN.
4. Started the OpenVPN. Sometimes I got an error like this: "Unroutable control packet received from", however after several tries, the OpenVPN seemed to connect. But after connection, I cannot access the Internet anyway. I can ping 8.8.8.8 from the router, so I guess there is something wrong with the firewall. But I didn't how to config this to this build. Could you kindly help me to figure out this?

@rsiram22

If OpenWRT doesn't automatically give access to all the flash then it should be treated like a bug, create a ticket for that. If you like, send me a patch and I can do a build. I don't have the router myself so not going to spend much time on that yet.

@boatmac

This is not a general support thread, please create a new topic for your problem.

Have put in a ticket - lets see what have to say - https://dev.openwrt.org/ticket/17316

Thanks!

Here you go:

Note that I took out some of the patches, i.e. the fast_flash code I didn't manage to port. I don't even know what it's for, the V1 runs great without it but I can't say for sure about the V4/4300. Can the new routers be flashed through TFTP? Make sure you got a rescue routine ready smile

No OC for the V4/WNDR4300 yet. There's a guy who managed to do it with u-boot:

https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?id=44012

But he hasn't shared any code yet.

Unfortunately there is something seriousily broken with 3.14 kernel and ar71xx phy devices, your patches applied cleanly and the build went well but the final image did not work. Guess will wait for developers to port 3.14 to ar71xx.

Once again thank you for sharing those paches! ;-)

arokh,

Chromecast doesn't like WNDR3800 running on channel 13 while Chromecast country is set to United States. I tried to 'disable'  jow reghack by changing country '00' to 'US' in /etc/config/wireless in both wlan0 and 1 but still channel 13 shows up after reboot.

So just change the channel?

Can you make a build for the WNDR3700v1 with kernel 3.14, and with IPv6?

Yay, a CC build! Anyway, according to LuCi, that build is still using kernel 3.10. Do I need to clean-install it?

Oops, sorry I forgot to change the version in Makefile so it's 3.10 making a new build now smile

Hey Arokh, I am sorry for asking this again, though since you didn't respond on my posts I thought you might have missed them, if you did read them consider this post deleted (I will delete it if you want me to). I just wanted to politely ask you because there is just one thing that is really important to me and will make this FW perfect for my use again. I wanted to PM you, but you have (probably for good reason wink ) disabled that on your profile, hence me just doing one more post on it.

I love your FW and am very grateful for your efforts on it, especially now you have implemented OpenVPN out of the box this is my FW to go to.
I know I asked for unfs being added to the package and in my previous posts I asked for you to change or take it out again, I hope this didn't come to you as ungrateful and was the reason for you to ignore my posts as that is the last thing I am or wanted it to imply!

I use NFS mainly for my media players and NFS now doesn't work in my case (may it be due to my incompetence to add it to rc.local, I just can't get it to work without manually starting the services, or something else) after a reboot and that is the only thing for me (and I would guess others that use NFS with a permanent connected USB storage device) that doesn't work.

Again, I hope you do not take this as whining or anything like it, it is the opposite of that wink

Saw your post now, I'll look into why it's not starting when connected on boot smile

Great, thanks for the prompt reply!

@bmccoy11

Updated the same release

Thanks! You might want to change "Barrier Breaker" to "Chaos Calmer" in the OP now smile

It's an easy fix, I'll put out a new build with ipv6 for you smile

EDIT: http://enduser.subsignal.org/~trondah/t … 00/r41899/

I see that this a CC build for 4300 which flashes/boots up fine, but wont take "changeme" as password in luci or ssh. Should I try something else? While at it, please put the build config file out as well..

thanks!!

Ah, my bad. There was some changes in base-files and I forgot to reapply the patch that sets default password. Will rebuild again.

@johan81

New build coming up in an hour or so that fixes the nfs startup issue.

Hi,
I just ordered a wndr3800, as my g300nh is too slow for qos with my fiber 75/75 on openwrt or gargoyle.

I'm so glad you can overclock these routers!  But, how does it compare to the ceroWRT builds?  I've read that openwrt is pretty much caught up to cero, what do you think, have you compared them?

Also, do you think you can explain how to modify the u-boot to overclock, in case I use gargoyle or ceroWRT instead?  I can't seem to find anything individual, it seems like it has to be done altogether with the firmware?

Thanks a lot and I look forward to experimenting with this faster router!

I will share my blocklist scripts once I have the wndr3800 set up.  For now, I have it this way:

I just installed the r41900 build and I cannot login to the web interface. What is the default password?

Great to read you found the cause of the NFS problem, will test it when it is released. Thanks!

@Tearitup

That release got messed up, I removed it now sorry. Try the latest.

@robnitro

As far as I know CeroWRT is all about buffer bloat and most of their patches made it upstream already. I don't know how to overclock through u-boot.

What would be the purpose of this blocklist you are talking about? Blocking attackers that might never attack you on ports you never got open in the first place? Or am I misunderstanding?

If at all possible, I would still like the password so that I can upgrade from within the interface itself. I do not have physical access to the router at the moment (out-of-town family staying in the room).

Sorry, posts 351 to 350 are missing from our archive.
