Ok, I'll switch to 3.10 for the wndrnand builds.

New builds are up, let me know if works now.

Hi. Like your builds. But I have run into a problem, not sure if it is my router or I am missing something. Lately, when ever I reboot my router, I lose admin access. Usually several reboots may fix the problem, but the last couple of times I've had to terminal in (also lost that) and reset the router. The router still gives out ip addresses, can ping the router etc. I just cannot log into the router any more. What am I missing? IS the router gone?

Also, the router is serving 169.x.x.x addresses, I can only get internet if I manually type in the info. No wireless also.

If you get 169 addresses, that means your router doesn't give out any IP address, 169 is the address for "couldn't get any IP address"
Seems something is wrong with your DHCP server at least, did you change anything in your DHCP/Network/Firewall configs?

First rule of troubleshooting, do a full reset.

Know what 169 ip mean. I have done a full reset 3 times so far. Last two I rebooted after adding static ip for new hardware. Just when I reboot, I lose all access to the settings. Was trying to figure out what has happened before I once again do a full reset. After a full reset I can again access the settings, just lose access whenever I reboot.

Sounds like you're messing up the dhcp config.

How? All I do is add a new static IP. I have not touched any of the other settings at all, from the first config. If I update, I follow the info and do a new set up and do not keep settings, which I have not done since my initial post in this thread. The problem I have also occurs if I just reboot, if the system starts to act wonky.

Just trying to figure out what could be happening. And how to fix it and keep it from happening.

Syntax error in dhcp config would probably result in dnsmasq not starting. No DHCP addresses, no DNS resolving. Basically, nothing working just like your symptoms.

The latest build has MAC-Telnet so you could log in even without an IP address and see what's going on.

Hi, arokh! First of all, thank you, for making best fw for this old piece of hw.
And the thing why I'm here is issue on latest builds, so there is a story: my ISP using L2TP with static IP for auth users, I've easily solved this puzzle using static wan and creating extra interface with L2TP, but when I decided that I need all this updates and tor network (do it hard! factory update!), voila, while I'm creating interface for vpn connection is showed button "Install xl2tpd" 'cause xl2tpd isnt installed, but, when I install it, the button wouldnt dissappear! And L2TP isnt working, I've sshd to device checked all thing like depencies, routes, etc, but it seems problem is exact with Luci.
Could you give some advice?
Thanks in advance.

1. The "vpn" interface in my build belongs to OpenVPN, don't change that - add a new interface instead.
2. The l2tp config in luci (at least protocol installation) seems broken. xl2tpd is just a server, you most likely need openl2tp-full which includes client.
3. openl2tp-full is in the oldpackages feed so no binaries on openwrt.org download site (this might be why luci suggest xl2tpd i dont know). I'll add it but you won't see it until next build.
4. In the meantime, do some reading on how to set up l2tp properly wink

Thank you. Will give that a try. Still wondering how a syntax error came in, as I have been only adding static ips. Could have been an error in the build I am using?

If it works with full reset then its not a build problem.

Hi. I have reflashed the router with the latest build. But cannot get Mac-telnet to work. What do I need to do to get back in? I have changed my LAN ip and need to get back in to change the commit. Have not found an easy way, Telnet fails, SSH fails - so now to try Mac-telnet - How?

You need to use the -S option with the client (i.e. mactelnet -u root -S 00:00:00:00:00:00). For more info look at the documentation. Only http://aouyar.github.io/MAC-Telnet has this functionality, not the original.

What documentation. I have been searching. I cannot install mactelnet on my mac to get it to work, keep getting errors when I go and make file. Any other way before I give up and go to another firmware?

I just gave you the link. Mac-telnet is written for Linux and doesn't even compile on osx. Another firmware is probably a good idea if you give up this easily.

All I have is a mac.

Is there a way to write the commit to the file - without- using the command line? Just in the config files in the router itself. I have been at this for several hours.

What is it exaxtly you are trying to do? The router is in working state after a full reset, yes? Describe the steps you take to reach a non-functional state.

Figured it out. Had to reset, log in with Cyberduck, copy the network config file, change the static ip for the lan to the one I want, copy the file back replacing the original (this is after I run the command to change the admin ip listen port).

Just rebooting the router, if it starts to slow down or act weird, or if I add a new static ip - then later reboot- then BAM - no router access.

You can log in with ssh and change /etc/config/network with vi or nano whatever you prefer no need to copy back and forth with cyberduck. I still don't quite understand what you did to lock you out though.

This netgear sucks....
So I found out that WNDR routers have an issue with WAN port ethernet driver.
My old slower buffalo g300nh with 400 mhz cpu doesnt have this issue!

3.10 42165 build works - am back in business smile thanks!

First of all thank you very much for creating this build.  I've been using stock firmware on my WNDR3700 v1 for a few years and recently started suffering sporadic reboots.  I went searching on Google for some better firmware and ended up on this thread.  I was amazed at how simple it was to install and configure.

Now for my question.  Is it possible to disable WPS?  I looked around on every settings page, but haven't been able to find anything referring to WPS.  It's my understanding that WPS is not very secure, so I wanted to disable it if possible.

I'm currently using Firmware version r42165.

Thank you again!

Just make sure wps_pushbutton is not set in /etc/config/wireless I think.
